8. How Does Window Film Work?

Solar radiation from the sun is divided into 3 components;
Visible Light we can see
Infrared we can feel
Ultra Violet Rays which cause fading
As solar radiation strikes a piece of glass, window film blocks harmful UV Rays and regulates the level of heat and light passing through the glass. The amount of heat and light rejected is all dependant on the type of window film selected.

9. Is Window Film Necessary If I Have Drapes Or Blinds On My Windows?

Absolutely! The sun will damage your window treatment and you won’t be able to keep your windows coverings open without having all the harmful rays entering through the glass.

10. How Will Window Film Keep My House Cooler?

Window film will reduce up to 86% of the heat entering a room from the outdoors. This reduction saves you money by lowering your air conditioning cost.

11. Is Window Film Applied To The Inside Or Outside Of The Window?

Window film is almost always applied to the inside of the window. We do carry exterior films that can be applied to the outside of the glass if necessary.

12. Can Skylights Be Tinted?

Yes, skylights can be tinted as long as they are made out of glass. Plastic / Dome skylights cant be tinted. See #13 for more info.

13. Can Window Film Be Applied To Plexiglass Or Plastic Windows?

Standard window films should not be applied to acrylic or polycarbonate (plexiglass) windows. These are plastic sheeting products and they all have the potential to outgas.  Heat and visible light from the sun causes outgassing. Outgassing is the release of chemical components and/or moisture absorbed by the plastic. The outgassing interferes with the window film adhesive system, and results in bubbling between the plastic window and the window film It should also be noted that many window film adhesive systems, when applied to plastics, will create a permanent bond.

BUT we do have a film that will work. We will have to apply 2 layers of film.one that will stick to the acrylic or polycarbonate (plexiglass) and then the film you have chosen.

14. Will Window Film Fade?

None of our product will fade.
But we cannot talk for everyone. You’ll be surprised the amount of film removal we do every month on cheaper quality film.

15. Argon & Krypton Gas Windows

Argon and krypton are the gas fills used most often by window manufacturers to displace the air between the panels in windows for heat rejection and heat gain. These gases life span 3-4 years.
